This Passacaglia in G Minor, originally for solo violin, is the last work contained in H. I. F. Biber's Mystery (Rosary) Sonatas, composed in 1674. This work is often called the "Guardian Angel" Passacaglia because the original manuscript copy of this work contains an angel above the title. The same angel appears on the cover page of this arrangement. By far Biber's most popular work, this passacaglia contains everything from languishing harmonic moments to brilliant technical challenges.
