Frequently Asked Questions

Publishing

I’m interested in publishing my composition/arrangement through American Brass Press. How can I get in touch?

We’d love to see your work! Email nk@americanbrasspress.com with

  • your score in PDF and MusicXML format, plus Dorico and/or MuseScore engraving files if you have them,
  • your phone number,
  • and anything else you’d like to share.

NB: Be sure to read the rest of these FAQs first.

Once you’ve submitted, give us at least 2 weeks to review your score and we’ll be in touch!

What scores are you interested in publishing?

We are a low-brass-focused publisher of classical music. We welcome solo and chamber works featuring at least one low-brass instrument: trombone, euphonium, or tuba. For example, solos with piano, brass quintets, and like-instrument low-brass ensembles are all fair game. Our focus is on classical compositions and arrangements, so we’re not accepting jazz lead sheets at this time.

Can I submit arrangement of works still under copyright?

No — at the moment, we’re not equipped to handle license agreements with copyright holders. Please be sure that the original work is in the public domain, or reach out to us with questions.

I’ve heard that American Brass Press has strict engraving rules. How can I make sure my submission meets the ABP standard?

We’re proud to maintain high engraving standards for all our scores. To maximize the chance of your submission being accepted, please review our engraving guidelines.

As a composer/arranger, how would I be compensated for my work?

At American Brass Press, we’re proud to offer royalties of 50% for all our associates — much higher than the industry standard of 10%. If your score is priced at $30, you’ll earn $15 on every sale!
